BROOKSVILLE – Virginia “Gabby” (Babson) Snow, 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2004. Virginia was born on Aug. 22, 1918, and was a lifelong Brooksville resident. Virginia was the second child of the late Frank and Mary Babson of West Brooksville. She was a friend to many, and beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She and her husband, Frank, have lived in North Brooksville since 1946. Virginia’s life was her family. In her spare time she found time to be the Postmaster of Brooksville for many years and bookkeeper and valued business partner for her husband’s Frank Snow Plumbing and Heating business. Virginia, affectionately renamed Gabby, by her first grandchild, Jackie, is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Snow; her sisters, Irene and her husband, John Bakeman, and Catherine Clifford, both of Brooksville; her son, Don and his wife, Elaine, of New Jersey; her son-in-law, Murray Bates of Brooksville; her five grandchildren, Jackie and her husband, Joe Gott, of Sedgwick, Dennis Bates and his wife, Helen, of England, Thomas Snow and his wife, Kathleen, of Massachusetts, and Amanda and Michael Snow of New Jersey; seven great-grandchildren, Luke Carter and his wife, Megan, of Sedgwick, Josh Gott of Sedgwick, Megan and Rhianna Bates of England, and Mia, Sarah and Helena Snow of Massachusetts; one great-great-grandchild, Mackenzie Carter of Sedgwick; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Maryann Snow Bates; and her brother, Manley Babson. Friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 100 South St., Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Blue Hill Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dale True and the Rev. Rob McCall officiating. Interment will be at Mount Rest Cemetery, North Brooksville. Friends are welcome at her family home in North Brooksville after the service.
