BELFAST – Virginia Marie (Streeter) Knupp, 85, passed away peacefully Feb. 18, 2008, at Tall Pines Health Care facility. She was born June 4, 1922, in Royal Oak, Mich., the daughter of Raymond and Maude Streeter. She married Murray Knupp, June 7, 1946, in Florida; they later moved to Indiana, Pa., where they spent many happy years in their home on Rayne Church Road. Both she and Murray were active with the Presbyterian Rayne Church for many years. Their son David was born in 1947. Their home became a gathering place for family and friends and Virginia was known by all as a gracious hostess with a cake or cookies always available. She took great pride in her family’s accomplishments and amazingly always kept up with the locations and activities of her several nieces and nephews and their families, even down to the addition of new pets. She never spoke a harsh word to or about anyone and, she could find a silver lining in any situation. When Murray passed away in 2001, she was able to remain on “the farm” for a time and then moved to assisted living. While there, she continued to enjoy family visits and was tenderly watched over by niece-in-law, Mary George. She moved to Maine in 2005 to Tall Pines, Belfast, where she spent many peaceful and happy months with church activities, boat rides up the coast and seafood dinners. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a woman of few material needs, who gave unconditional love to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by family and friends in Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Iowa, and beyond. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Murray; and her beloved sister, Madeline. She is survived by her son, David Knupp and wife, Candice, of Winterport; grandson and wife, Michael and Nicola; and great-grandsons, Alex and Matthew of Winterport; granddaughter, Tawnya of Iowa City, Iowa; five nieces, eight nephews and their families, that are scattered across the country. Interment will be in Purchase Line, Pa. A gathering of family and friends is anticipated for the summer. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
