SCARBOROUGH – Virginia O’Roak, 86, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at a Portland nursing home. She was born in Staceyville, one of 12 children, the daughter of Charles and Flossie (Reed) McLellan. Virginia worked at the Hermon Shoe Shop for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Scarborough Free Baptist Church. She and her husband, Dale spent several winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband in 2000; and her one-year-old son, Sheldon, in 1947. She is survived by two sons, Mervyn “Mel” O’Roak and his wife, Betty, and Dwayne and his wife, Marion, both of Scarborough; a sister, Iola Giles of Patten; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
