HOULTON – Vivian M. Kirlin, 89, died April 2, 2006, at her residence. She was born May 30, 1916, at Smyrna, the daughter of Horatio and Emma (Maxon) Collier. Vivian was a member of the Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. She was a kind and gentle woman, always giving first to her husband and family. She was a “shining example” of what a mother should be. In her later years, she took up cross-stitch and needlepoint, giving many of these “works of art” to her children and grandchildren, whom will treasure them forever. She lived a long and contented life with her children always there for her, right to the end. She will forever be in their hearts. Vivian is survived by six children, Noreen Pyze of Naugatuck, Conn., Richard Kirlin and his wife, Dawn, Gerry Scott and her husband, Charles, all of Houlton, Jim Kirlin of Glenburn, Carol Bell and her husband, Frank, of Houlton, Dan Kirlin and his wife, Sue, of Amberg, Germany; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Gus H. Kirlin in 1988; one son, Robert in 1944; her parents and all five of her siblings. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dunn Funeral Home, until the time of departure 10:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, with the Rev.
