CAMDEN – “Roy” Gaines, 73, beloved husband of Rose Marie (Connors) Gaines, died Nov. 27, 2003, at Pen-Bay Medical Center with his family by his side. He will be sadly missed. He was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of W.L. and Ruth (Sully) Gaines. He was the grandson of Dr. Albert W. Sully, great-grandson of Maj. Gen. Alfred Sully, U.S. Army, great-great-grandson of Thomas Sully. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1953. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged in June of 1967. His career with IBM stationed him in Austria for some years. He remained a consultant for IBM several years after his retirement in January of 1989. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Karen Davis and son-in-law, David Davis of Ellsworth; son, Wil Gaines and daughter-in-law, Veena Gaines of Ellsworth. Service for friends and family will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice of Knox County, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
