BELFAST – Wallace D. Ward Sr., 84, son of the late John and Maud (New-begin) Ward died at a Belfast healthcare facility on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. He was born March 15, 1919, in Perham. Wallace joined the Army at an early age and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. After the war, he returned to Belfast where he was a truck driver for Penobscot Poultry and later for State Sand and Gravel. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wallace was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Currie; and one son Lawrence Ward. He is survived by four sons, Gerald and his wife, Sylvia Ward, of Kansas, Wallace and Wayne Ward, both of Louisiana; five stepchildren, Rickie LeSan, Allan Weaver, Larry Weaver, all of Belfast, Mark Weaver of Jackson, and Gary Weaver of Brunswick; eight grandchildren; several great-grand-children; nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 with the Rev. David Abbott of the United Methodist Church officiating. Spring interment will be at the family lot in the Green lawn cemetery in Swanville.
