PRESQUE ISLE – Wallace P. Thompson, 89, husband of the late Eleanor (Peary) Thompson, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at his residence. He was born at Perham, Sept. 22, 1915, the son of Ruchen and Mamie (Cochran) Thompson. He was the fifth of eight children and lost his mother at the age of seven. At age 18, he married Eleanor Peary, worked on her father’s farm for a few years, then, they moved to Presque Isle to work on the Elm Brook Farm for many years. His last job of 20 years was at Maine Potato Growers as an oil delivery driver. He is survived by a son, Ronald W. Thompson and his wife, Maureen, of Narragansett, R.I.; a daughter, Norma Raffensberger and her husband, Barry, of Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a beloved friend, Ethel Giles of Presque Isle. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Norsworthy; and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., with the Rev. Michael Shaw officiating. Relatives and friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
