LEWISTON – Wallace A. “Ward” Jipson Sr., 83, of Mechanic Falls, was called to heaven Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. His loving family was by his side. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Prentiss, the son of Asa and Ora McAlpine Jipson. While in Prentiss he worked as a woodsman and on a road crew. He also did work as a farmhand. In 1960, he moved to the Lewiston-Auburn area with his then wife, Madora King Jipson, whom he married in 1945, and his seven children. While in the Lewiston-Auburn area he worked for Reynolds Tree and Hillcrest Poultry. He is survived by his brother, Jack of Franklin, N.H.; a sister, Ruth Carl of Lincoln; four sons, Arnold Jipson and his wife, Florence, of Oxford, Carroll Jipson of Maryland, Kelvin Jipson and his partner, Debbie Sumner, of Mechanic Falls, and Asa Jipson and his wife, Heather, of Maryland; three daughters, Beverly Thomas and her husband, Sam, of Poland, Charlene Toussaint and her husband, Russ, of Mechanic Falls and Arline Keough of Maryland; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin and Lawrence; three sisters, Blanche Worster, Ethel Dill and Laura Ogdon; and his former wife, Madora Jipson. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home from Interment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
