SELDEN and BANGOR – Walter “Bob” Williams, 98, died May 7, 2004, at a Bangor Nursing Facility. He was born Feb. 4, 1906, in Amity, the son of Mansfield and Addie (Estabrook) Williams. Bob was an exemplary person with a strong work ethic and an extremely positive attitude. He was a very generous person with his time, always ready to help anyone who needed assistance. Bob was an honest, sincere and caring man who was loved by all who knew him. His vocations included mail delivery by horse and wagon, farming, heavy equipment operator (constructing and maintaining many of the roads in the area) and fire wood business. He retired from the State of Maine in 1975. He then went into the fire wood business, which was his last venture up until the age of 91. He lived in Selden until 1997, at which time he moved to Bangor, to live with his family due to failing health. He attended the Haynesville and Selden Baptist Churches. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna (Dow) Williams; a son, Marvin Williams; and a great-grandchild, Gillian Milheron. He is survived by two daughters, Polly Goding of Bangor, and Madelyn Milheron and husband, Richard, of Brewer; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Duane Waite officiating. Interment will be in Selden Cemetery.
