CEDAR KEY, Fla. and GREENVILLE – Walter E. Lawrence, 66, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the VA Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla. He was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Worcester, Mass., the son of Hope and Richard Lawrence. He traveled extensively throughout the world for Packaging Industries of Hyannis, Mass., before retiring in 1988, and moving to Maine. For the last few years, he was a member of the Cecil R. Cole American Legion Post No. 94 of Greenville. He and his wife have been traveling to the south during the winters for the past few years in their travel trailer and spent the summers in Maine. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Merrilyn (Merry) Lawrence; a daughter, Evelyn Fitzgerald of Gardiner; a son, Richard Lawrence of Sandwich, Mass.; six grandchildren; a sister, Anne Lander of Pocasset, Mass.; a brother, David Lawrence of Stevensville, Mich.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be laid to rest in Maple Wood Cemetery, Upton, Mass., at a later date. At that time there will be graveside services.
