LINCOLN – Walter Eugene Pond, 62, died peacefully Feb. 16, 2007, at home, with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born March 29, 1944, in Lincoln, the son of Daniel and Hannah (Ireland) Pond. Walter was well known for his bean hole beans, telling stories, always the truth; fishing, hunting and trapping. He worked in the woods most of his life and yard selling. Those he left behind are his loving wife of 20 years, Daphine (Flanders) Pond; his daughters, Melissa Grass and husband, Frank, of Silver Ridge, Heidi Harper and Rebecca Bas of Old Town, Lesley Robishaw of Rochester, N.H.; and many many friends; grandchildren, Frankie and Joshua Grass, Rehamer Robishaw, Victoria Harper, Joshua Bas and Scott Boober; sisters, Ethelder Burleigh of Delaware, Anita McKinnon and her husband, John; and a brother, Allison “Alley” Pond and his wife, Donna. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Nelson and Reginald. The family wishes to thank the people at CancerCare of Maine, Community Health and Counseling, and the people at Rite Aid, who helped so much during his sickness. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Shaw officiating. A gathering will be after the service at Community Evangel Temple. Spring interment will be at South Chester Cemetery.
