NEWBURGH – Walter K. Babb, 79, died unexpectedly April 20, 2006, at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Glenburn, the son of Walter R. and Wilma (MegQuire) Babb. He attended Glenburn schools. Walter was employed at Banton Brothers Inc. in Newport for several years and he also worked for many years at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Iola (Shorey) Babb of Newburgh; one son, George “Tommy” Babb of Carmel; three daughters, Robin McLain of Carmel, Kelly Bragg of Albion and Roxanne Bushey of Carmel; two brothers, Bob Babb of New Gloucester and Bradley Babb of Upper Marlborough, Md.; one sister, Katherine Braley of Glenburn; seven grandchildren, Kristie, Tommy, Jason, Rebekah, Ronnie, Randy, Ashley, one great-grandson, Hayden; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Walter Jr. and David. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont.
