WALTER L. SIMON OLD TOWN – Walter L. Simon, 75, passed away unexpectedly Mon-day, May 24, 2004, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Old Town, son of the late David and Eugenia (St. Pierre) Simon. Walter served active duty in the U.S. Air Force for one 1/2 years and went on to Civil Service in the Maine Air National Guard for 31 and 1/2 years retiring in 1983 at the Rank of Master Sergeant. He was currently employed with Keith Trembley Builders. Walter was a faithful communicant and member of Holy Family Parish in Old Town. He was an active life member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2537 and of Fourth Degree Assembly No. 0364 in Old Town. He faithfully served the councils Bingo program for many years and will be remembered for his hard work and dedication. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Dolores; son, Gregory Simon and his wife, Patricia, of Enfield, Conn.; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey and David, all of Enfield, Conn.; sister, Pauline Rand of Old Town; brother, Randolph Seymour of Greenbush; brother, Robert Simon and his wife, Audrey, of Old Town; brother, Eugene Simon and his wife, Cora, of Old Town; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Cates; and a brother, Donald Simon. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where the Old Town Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town, with the Rev. Normand Richard and Rev. Rudolph Leveille celebrants. Committal will be held immediately following the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Old Town. Friends and family are invited to the Holy family Parish Hall following the burial for a luncheon and continued fellowship.
