EAST MILLINOCKET – Walter R. “Bill” Boynton Sr., 94, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2007, at a Lincoln nursing home. He was born Nov. 3, 1912, in East Millinocket, the son of Charles and Cora (Leavitt) Boynton. Bill was educated in East Millinocket schools and was a graduate of Schenck High School. He worked for A & P grocery store for a short period of time, before going to work for Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, where he retired in 1975. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid gardener. Bill is survived by four children, Anita Angotti and her husbnd, Frank, of Caribou, Robert F. Boynton of East Millinocket, Ralph D. Boynton of Lincoln and Cora Clay of East Millinocket; a daughter-in-law, Janet Boynton of East Millinocket; 10 loving grandchildren, Terry Vigue, Julie Fiske, Charlie Boynton, Jill Pelkey, David Angotti, Daniel Boynton, Grant Boynton, Aaron Boyn-ton, Ruth Clay and Robin Clay; 10 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lula Hillier of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla., and Martha Elliot of Millinocket; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Harriet Louise (Nolan) Boynton; a son, Walter R. “Billy” Boynton Jr.; a grand- daughter, Karen Boynton; a grandson, Scott Boynton; a brother, Francis Boynton; and three sisters, Bernice Caspar, Celia Hale and Anna Reagan. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, corner of Maple Street and Church Street, East Millinocket, with the Rev. Andrew MacLeod, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Bill’s family would like to extend a warm thanks to the residents and staff at Colonial Acres Nursing Home, Lincoln, for the excellent care and positive quality of life given to Bill over the last nine months.
