CANAAN – Warren Albert Farrington, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at Inland Hospital in Waterville. He was born May 24, 1938, the only son of Ralph and Genevieve (Rafman) Farrington of West Gardiner. Warren attended Litchfield schools and graduated from Litchfield Academy, Class of 1956. Warren started out his career in the auto body repair business, which lead to his employment with Allstate Insurance Company in 1968. He became a field property claims supervisor with the company and later retired in 1976. At that time he decided to become an entrepreneur in the business of Wilderness Appraisals, where he specialized in all automotive and heavy equipment. In 1978, he went to work for Commercial Union Insurance Company and in 1993, he had to retire do to health problems. Warren was well known and was proud of being an expert in his field, he was called upon to testify in court on numerous occasions. He was also known for his excellent hunting and fishing skills even though his left leg had been severed from the knee down in a duck accident. This man loved going North, never South. He just wanted to go to camp with his loving companion, Sue McDougall and his dogs. His love for the wilderness and his Weimaraners was evident in each and every conversation. Warren was predeceased by his mother and father, Ralph and Genevieve (Rafman) Farrington. He is survived by his oldest son, Mark W. Farrington and his wife, Darlene, of Gardiner and Warren W. Farrington currently of Dallas, Texas; as well as Sue McDougall’s son, Ryan McDougall; and numerous loving grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed and cared about each and every friend and had such spirited conversations that you could visualize his words. He will be missed dearly by all. A memorial service to celebrate Warren’s life will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
