ELLSWORTH – Warren Gale Guildford, 76, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at an Ellsworth health care facility, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Orange, N.J., the son of the late Ralph Newton and Gertrude Isobel (Converse) Guildford. He attended schools in Foxboro, Mass., as a child and transferred to Norfolk County Agricultural School for several years, studying agriculture and animal husbandry. He was a U.S. veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. While in the service, he was a flight engineer on B-29’s and is believed to be a member of the crew that flew the last flight out of Seoul, Korea, ferrying women and children to safety during the Seoul, Korea, Airlift. First, he became a member of the Foxboro Fire Department, as a volunteer firefighter, where he worked for many years and loved to tell many stories about. Secondly, but of most importance to him, was starting his own family. He shared 53 years of marriage with his wife, Judith Laverne Andrews (Williams) Guildford. In addition to his wife, his family consisted of eight children and one grandchild, that lived with them. They are Kerry Wayne Guildford, Stephanie Gayle (Guildford) Cote, Guy Newton Guildford, Joel Phelps Guildford, Leigh Williams Guild-ford, Adam Keith Guildford, Todd Andrews Guildford Sr., and Meredith Gay (Guildford) Mathieu; and grandson, Todd Andrews Guildford Jr., who lived with them. He has 23 grandchildren and four great-grand-children. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy (Guildford) Anagnos and her husband, Nicholas Anagnos, of Massachusetts; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Ann (Guildford) Webber. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Beechland Road, Ells-worth. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, donations may be made to Faith in Action, 26 Meadowview Lane, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or Colliers Nursing Home, 33 Birch Ave., Ells-worth, ME 04605, who gave Warren their kindest loving attention and care during his final days and hours for which his family will be forever grateful. www.bragdonkelley.com
