CASTLE HILL and CARIBOU Phyllis “Nadine” Wood, 83, passed away May 11, 2007, at a Caribou health care facility, after an extended illness. Born Sept. 17, 1923, in Monticello, the daughter of Earl and Theresa (Folsom) McLean, she was the oldest of 12 children, of which there were four sets of twins. Also for many years, she busied herself with beautiful lawn crafts. She had a great love for the ocean, although unable to spend much time there. She is survived by two sons, Edward Wood Jr. of Augusta and Terry Wood of Castle Hill, who was very attentive to his mom in her illness; three grandchildren, Laura Gay of Augusta, Jamie Cole and Matthew Wood of Florida; three great-grand-children, Brittany, Christina and Caleb; sisters, Geraldine Case of Green Bay, Wis., Annadine Steeves of Southington, Conn., Penny “Hazel” Hamm of Lee, Delora “Lorrie” Stevens of Houlton, Joyce “Pat” Archuleta of Walsenburg, Colo., Lucille Voisine of Winn and Roberta “Betty” McAfee of Littleton; a brother, Robert “Bobby” McLean of Littleton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Hazen McLean; and two sisters, Rayworth Kelly and Dolores McLean. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou, with Pastor Lucy Lovely officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
