HOULTON – Wendy Louise (Beaulieu) Gavett, 53, lost her long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Aug. 16, 2004. She was born in Houlton, Oct. 21, 1950, the daughter of Muriel (Fortier) Beaulieu and Frank Beaulieu. A 1969 graduate of Houlton High School and a 1973 graduate of the University of Maine, Wendy became assistant director of the University of Maine Bookstore where she worked for 29 years. She will be dearly missed by her co-workers there who knew her not only as a compassionate, caring, and loving person, but also as a supervisor who made work seem like home and family. Always putting others’ concerns before her own, Wendy touched the hearts of several people. Predeceased by her father, she is survived by her mother, Muriel; her son, Aaron Michael; and her husband, Andrew Gavett III. Wendy leaves behind many special friends, among them Carole Treadwell, Ann Amero, Krista Smith, Ann Madigan, and Pam Green; she will be especially missed by her cousins, Karen Rydberg, Mary Lincoln, Steven Scott, and her life-long friend Kathy Brewer who was like a sister to her. A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at St. Mary’s Church in Orono. Friends may make donations in her name to the American Cancer Society, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orono. Most of all, those of us who loved her must remember Wendy through her own words of Comfort to Kathy: “As each day passes may all of our treasured and happy memories replace the sadness in our hearts. Time!”
