BREWER – Wesley Clifford Archer, 86, went to be with his Lord Nov. 27, 2006. He was born July 31, 1920, in Bradford, the son of Leon C. and Winnifred S. “Cool” Archer. He was a graduate of Stetson High School, Class of 1938. He entered the Armed Forces in 1942, serving in the Army Air Corps, stationed in England for the duration of the war. After honorably serving his country, he enrolled in Suffolk University and graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a Juris Doctrate in law. “Wes” returned to Maine in 1950 and began his practice in Brewer. He served as state representative for two terms and was appointed as judge of the Brewer Municipal Court 1954-57. He was a longstanding member of the Brewer Kiwanis Club, serving as the president and lieutenant governor, a member of the IOOF in Etna, a member of St. Andrew Lodge No. 83 and the Anah Temple of the Shrine. He was also affiliated with the Katahdin Area Council and National Congress of Parents and Teachers Association. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Terry; his son, Timothy and his wife, Carol Jo (Reed) Archer; and two very special grandsons, Jonathan and his wife, Jessie, of Portland and Justin and his wife, Megan, of Veazie; a sister, Almeda Mellott of Bangor, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Warren, Winslow, Leslie, Waldo, Avis and Alva. At his request, there will be no services.
