BANGOR and HOLDEN – Winifred Lucille Levenseller Wood, 93, died Nov. 28, 2006, at a Bangor health care center. She was born Nov. 22, 1913, in Bangor, the daughter of Fred A. and Gertrude M. (Frost) Brown. Winnie was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1931, a former member and vice president of the Junior League of Bangor and a sustaining member. She served as chairperson of the Volunteer Services at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She was a former member and secretary of the YWCA of Bangor. Winnie had been employed at the former Bangor Commercial. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gorham H. Levenseller, owner of the W.H. Gorham Co. of Bangor; and her second husband, Frank P. Wood, with whom she worked at the Winifred Wood Shop in Camden. She was also predeceased by a brother, Ralph F. Brown; and sisters-in-law, Val and Hazel Brown. Surviving are one daughter, Susan L. Pearson and her husband, James F., of Holden; two grandchildren, Scott Gorham Polley of Holden and Christina Lynn Tiensivu and her husband, Robert; a great-grandson, Brennon Robert Tiensivu, all of Orrington; one brother, Frederick A. Brown Jr. of Bangor; a nephew, David Brown; a great-niece, Cassidy and great-nephew, Cameron; and three stepchildren, Frank Wood, Cathy Wood and Bob Wood, all of New York. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Randall C. Chretien, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Bangor, officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
