HARPSWELL – Weston D. Clement of High Head Road dropped his mooring for the last time on June 9, 2004. He was born March 7, 1931, in Bangor, the son of the late Nellie Treworgy Clement and Deane W. Clement. He graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, N.H., in 1949. Mr. Clement received as BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1953 and a MSEE from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1958. On June 21, 1974, he married Linda L. Huston. They lived in Ardmore, Pa., before moving to Maine. Mr. Clement was employed for 33 years by RCA Corporation and retired in 1986 as senior systems engineer in the Communications Systems Division. At that time he returned to Maine and founded Coastal Consultants. He was a consultant to RCA/GE until his retirement. An avid sailor, Mr. Clement cruised the East Coast and for the last two decades extensively cruised Maine and Canadian waters in his Pilot Yawl PROCYON. In all seasons he enjoyed visiting boatyards up and down the Maine coast and talking with those involved in the construction and maintenance of boats. He held an Extra Class Amateur Radio license and enjoyed contacts with operators throughout the world. Mr. Clement was a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Mass. He was a member of the Maine Maritime Museum and the American Radio Relay League. He gave FCC Amateur License Exams for Merrymeeting Amateur Association. Mr. Clement is survived by his wife, Linda; and numerous cousins. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
