GREENSBORO, N.C. – Mr. Wilbur “Bill” J. Grasser, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at his residence. Bill was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Lamoine, to the late Christine and Percival Grasser. He was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute, Charle-ston and attended Marshall College, Huntington, W.Va. Bill was one of the “Leathernecks of the Air,” as a member of the 3rd Marine Airwing. He served his country during World War II. After returning to Maine, Bill married Helen Bean, August 1945. After 28 years of maintenance and construction, he retired from Western Electric. Mr. Grasser is survived by his wife, Helen B. Grasser of Greensboro, N.C.; daughters, Dorothy Richardson and husband, Bobby, of Maine, Anita Williams and husband, Bill, of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Gene, Lonnie, Lori, Misti, Alysha, Eddie and Sherry; 14 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Chris Christopher of Charleston, S.C. A viewing for Mr. Grasser will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held at a later date in Lamoine.
