SOLDIER POND – Wilfred A. Saucier, 89, died April 14, 2008, at a Frenchville health care facility. He was born Jan. 19, 1919, in New Canada Plantation, the son of Alfred and Emma (Theriault) Saucier. Wilfred was a seed potato grower for more than 50 years. He was a past member of Northern Maine Medical Center Hospital Board, Maine Potato Seed Board, Soil Conservation Board, selectmen for the towns of New Canada and Wallagrass, past member of the parish board of Wallagrass. He was a member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council 0352, Fort Kent and a member of Catholic Order of Foresters of Wallagrass. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lounia (Dube) Saucier of Fort Kent; three sons, Alfred “Freddie” Saucier and his wife, Rita Jeanne, of Tucson, Ariz., Raymond Saucier and his wife, Gisele, of Summerfield, Fla., and Herman Saucier and his wife, Betty, of Saco; two brothers, Alberie Saucier of Southington, Conn., and Norman Saucier of Lady Lake, Fla.; two sisters, Exilia Pelletier of Southington, Conn., and Mona Pinette of Soldier Pond; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Alfreda Pelletier; and two brothers, Richard Saucier and Wilmer A. Saucier. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday until time of departure for Soldier Pond at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial, with full Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus honors, will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soldier Pond.
