LEWISTON – William A. “Bucky” “Buster” Vye Jr., 91, a resident of 1720 Perkins Ridge Rd., Auburn, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, peacefully at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 26, 1913, in Auburn, the son of William A. and Mary (Roderick) Vye Sr. Mr. Vye worked in the local shoe industry and married the former Lillian Stevens, Nov. 14, 1938. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and auto racing. Survivors include one daughter, Joan V. Schoppe and her husband, Tim, of Hermon; one son, Richard A. Vye and his wife, Sandy, of Auburn. Also surviving are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian in 1996 as well as three brothers and one sister. Visitation will begin Friday one hour prior to service at the family owned Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel & Tribute Center, 62 Spring St., Auburn. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son with Chaplain Kathleen O’Wril presiding. Burial, with graveside committal prayers, will follow at Brookvale Cemetery, West Auburn.
