BANGOR – William Alfred Coughlin, 83, died Aug. 31, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Michael J. and Viola T. (Kipp) Coughlin. Bill worked at civil conservation camps as a young man. He worked at New Haven Copper Co. for many years. At Yale University, Bill worked in the athletic department and with the grounds department. He was employed at Bangor YMCA as game room attendant and gold room attendant. In everything Bill did he acknowledged “Jesus is in my corner.” As a young boxer and recipient of golden gloves, Bill knew the value of a good trainer in your corner. Bill knew that Christ was with him everyday. Bill’s life; his easy manner, his care for people, his love and faithfulness to his wife, his faithfulness and love for the church and his example to young people speaks volumes about Bill’s love of God and Gods love for him. “Jesus is in Bill’s Corner.” He was predeceased by a brother, Robert; a sister, Margaret Anderson; a daughter, Jo Anne Ambrose; and a close friend and brother-in-law, Arnold Devine. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Candace (Turner) Coughlin of Hermon; sisters, Mildred Devine of Oxford, Conn., Catherine Judway of Middletown, Conn.; his brother, James of North Haven, Conn.; a daughter, Sharon and her husband, John Masatis, of Lake Wales, Fla.; a daughter, Sandra Gagner of Bangor; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three loving step children, Bruce Domenech Jr. and his wife, Kirsten, of Exeter, Angela and her husband, Brian Mensonides, of Pheonix, Ariz., Mark Domenech and his wife, Katina, of Levant; six stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at the Christ Covenant Church, 57 Court St., Bangor with the Rev. Joshua Ben Canaan, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon. A service of Brookings-Smith.
