WALDO – William B. Keswick, 73, died July 1, 2005, at his farm in Waldo. He was born May 2, 1932, in Water-town, Mass., the son of Albert and Dorothy (Beverly) Keswick. Bill served his country from 1950 to 1953 as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and ran a gas station in Sanford, before moving to Belfast in 1964, where he purchased a gas station and convenience store on the eastside of Belfast. Bill ran this business as Keswick’s Market for many years. He also owned and ran Wonderview Cottages on Searsport Avenue in Belfast. In his later years, Bill retired to farming and being a “handyman”. Bill loved animals and farming. He raised cattle, pigs, chickens and grew vegetables for many years at his farm in Waldo. He was most proud of his apple trees which he planted as seedlings and watched grow over the years. His familiar sign advertising handyman services and eggs and hay for sale on the Oak Hill Road was a community fixture for more than 20 years. Bill was a well read and knowledgeable farmer and volunteered his time and services on the Cooperative Extension Board for many years. He also served on the Town of Waldo, Board of Zoning Appeals. Bill was predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Beverly Winn. He is survived by his niece, Pamela Rondina; his nephew, Donald E. Winn Jr.; and many, many good friends. Bill’s friends and family will gather to remember him 10 a.m. Sunday, July 24, at “Keswick Ranch, Waldo Range”, located off of the Oak Hill Road, Waldo.
