CARIBOU – William B. Massie, 75, died April 18, 2007, in Caribou. He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Stock-holm, the son of Albert and Agnes (Bernaiche) Massey. He attended the Stockholm schools and was a long time member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He married Delores Thibodeau, May 30, 1956. Mr. Massie served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the Silver Star as well as the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW, The Henry B. Pratt Post No. 15 American Legion, and was a former member of the Caribou Lions Club. He was employed as the store manger of Day’s Jewelry Store, Caribou, for more than 20 years. Bill enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hunting and golf. In later years, he enjoyed reading, shopping and going for rides to the lake with his family. Bill is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Delores of Caribou; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Kim Massie of Cobalt, Conn.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lorrie Massie-King of Caribou, Karen and Bob Kies of Tolland, Conn., Denise and Rick Eugley of Sewell, N.J., and Andrea and Greg Beidelman of Caribou; four brothers, George Massie of Caribou, Jerry Massie of Florida, Everett Massie of Connecticut, and Paul Massie of New Jersey; two sisters, Jeannette LaChance of Caribou and Germaine Feltner of Utah; eight grandchildren, Amber Doughty and her husband, Bryan, Nicole King and her fianc?, Jim Walton, Dustin Eugley, Adam Kies, Ryan and Sarah Massie, and Seth and Luke Beidelman; one great-granddaughter, Grace Doughty; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Massie was predeceased by his parents; and infant son, Christopher John; and a brother, Philip. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where members of the VFW and American Legion will conduct memorial services beginning 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be at Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Massie may do so through the charity of one’s choice.
