BANGOR and HOWLAND – William “Bill” A. Swett Jr., 83, husband of the late Helen (Stratton) Swett, died Dec. 6, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Howland the son of William and Carrie (Robbins) Swett. Bill was a proud patriot and served with the U.S. Army during World War II fighting in the Okinawa and Lehte Battles. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Carolyn and Dave Ferguson of Brewer; two sons and their wives, Greg and Jane Swett of Bangor, Jim and Alice Swett of Orrington; six grandchildren, Kurt, Alana and her husband, Terry, Ian, Amanda, Troy, Prentiss; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Shayna, and Braeden. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Madeline Crocker, Esther Willard, and Frances Buck. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec.11, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with Bill’s cousin, the Rev. Clayton Crocker, officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Superintendents office, State Street entrance, at 12:45 p.m. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at 326 Wiswell Road, Brewer, following the service.
