BANGOR – William Martin Stockson, 85, passed away peacefully July 28, 2008, in Ban-gor, surrounded by family members. He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Stockholm. Bill graduated from Houlton High School, Class of 1940. After graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines, during World War II. He attended the University of Missouri and the university in Nebraska, studying engineering. He married Marilyn Moody from Houlton and lived in Bangor. They celebrated 61 years of marriage in January. Bill was a loyal member of St. Andrew Lodge No. 83 AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies Valley, Bangor; Maine Consistory 32nd Degree; and Anah Shriners, Bangor. He was employed at M.L Coffin Co., for 40 years, holding the position of president and treasurer for more than 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bangor for more than 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold and Gilbert. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife, Marilyn (Moody) Stockson, are his daughter, Deborah S. Anastos and her husband, George, of Richboro, Pa.; granddaughters, Jessica D. Durham and her husband, Sam, of Seattle and Julie A. Mount and her husband, Christopher, of Long Island, N.Y.; his special sister-in-law, Eda Stockson of Wrentham, Mass.; his longtime friend, Anson Taber of Houlton; and nine nieces and nephews, Evan-geline, Charles, Virginia, Gary, David, Sally, Darrell, Lloyd and Sharon. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Stephanie Salinas, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the funeral Thursday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
