SEQUIM, Wash. – William D. Boyles, 58, died April 23, 2006, in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles, Wash. of cancer. He was born in Presque Isle, to Ruben and Geraldine R. (Hughes) Boyles. In 1990, he retired from the Navy as a senior chief petty officer. His final duty was aboard the carrier USS Nimitz. Mr. Boyles’ awards include four Vietnam Service Medals in addition to Vietnam Campaign (with device), National Defense Service, and Humanitarian Service and Armed Forces Expeditionary medals. He also received the Navy Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Good Conduct Award, as well as the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. After his military service, he was employed for 11 years with McGuire Bering Co. in Seattle, Wash. He married Judy K. Walker Aug. 14, 1970, in Kirkland. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Kenmore and Faith Lutheran Church in Sequim, Wash. Mr. Boyles enjoyed golf with his brothers-in-law, Mike and Jerry Walker. In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Angela M. Martin of Bothell, Wash.; brother, Lorne Boyles of Portage; sisters, Persis Mooers of Eastport and Janice Mitchell of Unity; and one grandchild. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn, with Pastor Dorothy Matson. The United Veterans Honor Guard of Washington County will perform military services. A reception will be held after services at the United Methodist Church in Washburn.
