EASTPORT – William H. ‘Bunk’ Camick, 85, passed away peacefully Nov. 24, 2003, at a Calais hos-pital. He was born April 3, 1918, in Eastport, the son of Harold and Mabelle (Batron) Camick. He served in the U.S. Navy in North Africa during World War II. He was employed by John Hutchinson’s pharmacy and then Camick’s Drug Store as an assistant pharmacist. He was a 55-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed watching the ships from his home in Eastport, fishing at the camp on Penamaquan lake, and puttering in his gardens and all the while could be heard singing or whistling while doing it. He was a devoted family man who had the great fortune of being a loving husband to two wives and a wonderful father to two families. He was predeceased by his first love, Helen B. Camick, in 1970; and by his second love, Blanch E. Stevens Camick, in 1997; one brother; two sisters and two stepsons. He is survived by his brother Serman Camick and sister, Kath Lingley, both of Eastport; a son, James Camick and his wife, Barbara, of Winthrop; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Survivors from the Stevens side of his family include Harry Stevens and his wife, Judy, of Machias, Arthur Stevens and his wife, Denise, of Yarmouth, Joanne Brotheim and husband, Jerry, of Leominster, Mass., Nadine Whalen and husband, Thomas, of Fitchburg, Mass., Sonja Fongemie and husband, Dan, of Presque Isle, Kevin Stevens and wife, Elaine, of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters-in-law, Dorothy Stevens and Kay Stevens and a large number of grandchildren; great-grand-children and great-great-grand-children. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the Flagg Funeral Home, with Rev. Sheldon Keezer officiating, including Masonic services. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Washington County Children’s Program, P.O. Box 311, Machias, ME 04654 or to the Eastport Meals for ME Program.
