MILBRIDGE – Willard L. Carter, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at an Ellsworth hosp-ital surrounded by his family. He was born June 28, 1919, in Columbia, the son of Charles and Lydia (Sinclair) Carter. Willard was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine (Burgess) Carter of Milbridge; a son, Willard L. Carter Jr. of Steuben; four sisters, Hilda Nichols and her husband, Henry, Elizabeth Stillwell, Kathleen Stillwell, and Jeanette McKinney; a brother, Clarence Carter and his wife, Vera; six grandchildren, Stacie (Stanwood) Young and her husband, Steve, Troy Stanwood and his wife, Jodi, Tiffany Stanwood, Brenda (Carter) Mobley and her husband, Tommy, Michael Carter, and Kyle Carter; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Stanwood; three brothers, Harold, Roland and Albert; and a sister, Virginia. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, with the Rev. Ambrose Rolfe officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge.
