BREWER – William J. Daly, 79, died Feb. 28, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 6, 1926, in Brockton, Mass., the son of Edmund K. and Edna M. (Clark) Daly. Bill was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during World War II, as a tail gunner on a B-24. He was employed at the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 98 of Brewer, Penobscot Conservation Club, St. Andrews Lodge No. 83 AF & AM, Mount Moriah Royal Arch Chapter No. 6, St. John’s Commandery, Anah Shriners, all of Bangor. Bill was also a former scoutmaster of Troop 1 of Brewer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, genealogy and he was a Civil War buff. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte E. (Salisbury) Daly of Brewer; one son, Jay Daly of Somersworth, N.H.; two sisters, Elmira Jane Mitchell of Phoenix, Ariz. and Katherine Biagotti of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Constance S. Chase Wells, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Brewer, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends Friday to share conversation and refreshments following the services at the Brooking-Smith, Family Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
