CARIBOU – William J. Jones, 91, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Cassopolis, Mich., the son of Joseph and Pauline (Jacobs) Jones. After graduating from high school, William enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a pilot, and was a member of VFW Post No. 9389 and the American Legion Post No. 15. He along with his wife, Rose Lee, owned and operated Lazy Acres Trailer Park, Caribou, for more than 40 years. He is survived by three grandchildren, Debora Ogden and her husband, Neil, of Sutton, Vt., Ron Gutierrez and his wife, Holly, of Worcester, Mass., and Dee White of Montpelier, Vt.; six great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose Lee; a son, William J. Jones Jr.; a stepdaughter, Twalla Pedan Gutierrez; and a sister, Helen Hatch. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, with the Rev. Aaron Dandoise officiating. A committal with military honors will take place after the service at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
