BRADFORD – William John Hickey XII, 80, the husband of the late Ruth (Leighton) Hickey, died Jan. 9, 2005 at his Bradford residence after a long period of ill health. He was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Gardiner, the son of William John Hickey XI and Nellie (Huntington) Hickey. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Clearwater Spiritualist Church of Dover-Foxcroft. He was a former stitching room machinist and foreman at Gardiner Shoe most of his life. He is survived by seven sons, Jeffery and Guyfred, both of Beverly, Mass., William Hickey XIII and his wife, Connie, of Greenbush, Bradford of Augusta, Robert of Bradford, Gregory of Alton, N.H., and Lloyd of Berwick; two daughters, Angeline Jennings and her husband, Robert, of LaGrange and Elena Hickey and her husband, Joseph of Salem, Mass.; two sisters, Vivian Hickey Grover and Geraldine Hickey Hodgkin, both of Scarborough; a son-in-law, Kenneth Donovan of Massachusetts, 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews. William was predeceased by a daughter, Yvonne Beaudry; three brothers, Donald, Leon and Lloyd Hickey. Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
