EXETER – William L. Hamm Sr., 74, died Feb. 21, 2007, at his home. He was born July 12, 1932, in Swanville, a son of Cyrus and Daisy (Arbuckle) Hamm. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired in 2005 from Wardwell Construction. He is survived by his wife, Florence of Exeter; four children, William Hamm Jr. of Crestview, Fla., Katherine Jellison of Haynesville, Mary Johnson of Carmel and Daisy Gallant and husband, Mark, of Newport; two brothers, Lloyd Hamm and Raymond Hamm; five sisters, Dorothy Dyer, Kathleen Smith, Jean Howard, Carlene Carrano and Ethel Beverage; two grandchildren, whom he raised, Terry Cook and wife, Veronica, of Searsport and Keri Ponte and husband, Michael, of Exeter; nine other grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Keri Ponte’s home, 1005 Stetson Road, Exeter. Spring burial will be at Exeter Center Cemetery.
