HOLDEN – William R. Street, 75, died Oct. 23, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1930, in Brewer, the son of William R. and Marjorie T. (Blackman) Street. William, or “Buddy” as he was known, was a 1948 graduate of Brewer High School and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for New England Telephone for many years retiring in 1985. Buddy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 3177, Brewer, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, No. 244, Bangor, and was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and horseracing. Surviving are two step daughters, Dianne Savoy and her husband, Ronald, of Holden and Gail Rankin of Mercer; five grandchildren, Sean Savoy and his wife, Linda, of Holden, Tory Wotton and her husband, Matt, of Mercer, Cheryl Jamison and her husband, Dan, of Holden, Debra Cowperthwaite of Millinocket and Rhonda Walker and her husband, Matt, of Springfield, Va.; six great-grandchildren; five siblings, Catherine Dupray and her husband, Lewis Sr., of Hampden, Joan Pelkey of Brewer, Edward Street and his wife, Patricia, of Crown Point, Ind., Beverly Paul of Caddo Mills, Texas and Raymond Street and his wife, Charlene, of Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Marjorie L. Street and he will be remembered by a special friend, Leona Hatt. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 12-2 p.m. Thursday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
