LITTLETON – Willie E. Haney Jr., 76, went to be with the Lord, in the place prepared for him Jan. 26, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. At his time of passing at home, Bill was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Houlton, the son of Willie E. Sr and Maplet Linsey Haney. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving four years in the Korean War. He was a dedicated member of the VFW Post in Houlton, where he served as post commander for one year and post chaplain for four years. Before his illness forced him to retire, Bill served in many other capacities and was always available to help other fellow members. He was also a member of the Littleton Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. Bill leaves his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Lois (Williams) Haney of Littleton: two sons, James and his wife, Sharon, of Littleton and Ricky and his wife, Marilyn, of Monticello; three grandchildren, Shaun, Joshua and Sonja; brothers-in-law, Erlon and Albert Williams of Littleton and Almon Williams of Alfred; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Walter Gramour. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. A celebration of Bill’s life will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jessie Drysdale, officiating. Interment will be in the Littleton Cemetery.
