AMHERST – Willis Vernon O’Neal, 77, died Oct. 26, 2003, after a short illness at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1930, in the Forks, the son of Harold and Hazel (Scohfield) O’Neal of Bradford. Willis served his country in two branches of the armed services, the Navy and the Army during World War II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years and loved the outdoors. He is survived by his fianc‚e, Doris Hayward; sisters, Beulah Dewitt of Bradford, and Christine Tobin of New Hampshire; sons, Edward V. O’Neal of Phoenix, Ariz. and Daniel K. O’Neal of Ash Fork, Ariz.; daughters, Lois Henderson of Vera Cruz, Mexico and Charlene Sicilia of Derby, Conn.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Willis was predeceased by his parents Harold and Hazel O’Neal and a brother, Harold M. O’Neal. He will truly be missed by all. Graveside memorial services will be private at Amherst Cemetery.
