CALAIS – Wilma F. Pomeroy, 85, loving wife and mother died July 20, 2004, at a Calais hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Calais, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Hatt) Perry. She was employed many years by Ware Knitters of Calais. Wilma was a member of the United Methodist Church of Calais, taught Sunday School in the church, and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Stearns “Cub” Pomeroy; Thomas, Arthur and William Pomeroy; one brother, Ernest Perry; three sisters, Mildred Campbell, Phyllis Pierce, and Lois Benson. Surviving are a daughter, Edith Johnston and her husband, Dyer, of Winslow; one sister, Mabel St. Clair of Calais; three grandchildren, Crystal and Dyer Johnston II of Winslow; Joseph Clark and his wife, Jennifer, of Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Merranda LaChance of Winslow, and Jocelyn Clark of Georgia; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kay. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Calais Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, of Calais.
