BAR HARBOR – Winifred H. Hodgkins, 96, died Nov. 18, 2004, at a healthcare facility in Franklin. She was born Feb. 7, 1908, in Southwest Harbor, the daughter of Walter H. and Bernice (Murphy) Hamblen. Winifred graduated from Southwest Harbor High School in 1927. She was past member of the Southwest Harbor Congregational Church and past member of the Rebekah Lodge of Bar Harbor. She is survived by a sister, June H. Sanner of Southwest Harbor, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Hodgkins; a sister, Marguerite Hancock; five brothers, Hilton, Wilder, Dwight, Ben and Stanwood Hamblen. Winifred’s family would like to thank her many friends at Golden Acres for their support and care. A spring service will be held at Ledgelawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
