NEW BRITAIN, Conn., and ST. JOHN PLANTATION Yvette G. Pelletier, 90, died Dec. 29, 2007, at Jerome Home, New Britain, Conn., after a long illness. She had resided there since February 2002. She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in St. John, the third daughter of Paul J. and Anna (Soucy) Pelletier. After her early schooling in St. John, she attended Madawaska Training School, Fort Kent, now University of Maine – Fort Kent and graduated in 1939. Her Maine teaching career began in the Ashland area, then in Bridgewater. She then relocated to Beverly, Mass., to continue teaching and to obtain her Bachelor of Science in education at Salem State College in 1961. After her teaching years in Beverly, Mass., she moved to New Britain, Conn., to continue teaching and obtained her master’s degree in 1973, from Connecticut State College. After teaching 20 years at Smalley School, now Smalley Academy, she retired in June 1983, having taught more than 40 years. Yvette is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Martha Madore, and Mrs. Lucille Bouchard and her husband, Phil, both of Fort Kent; 17 nieces and nephews, Sherwood Wiganowski of Massachusetts, Wayne Wiganowski of Connecticut, Michael Abbott of New Hampshire, Karen Michaud of Massachusetts, Claire Mehan and Paulette Mika of Connecticut, Mary Marquis of St. John, Anne, Paul and Danny Madore of Fort Kent, Robert Madore of Glenburn, John and David Bouchard of Fort Kent, Dawn Cooper and Susan Deprey, also of Maine, Linda Daigle of Montana and Anna Bartollotta of Connecticut. She is also survived by a devoted brother-in-law, Paul Daigle of Manchester, Conn., who spent many hours helping Yvette with her personal and financial needs. She was predeceased by her parents; and five sisters, Annette Wiganowski, Janet Abbott, Agatha Doucette, Aline Pelletier and Eloise Daigle. Yvette was always generous and helpful to her parents and her extended family. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. A spring committal service will be held May 14, 2008, at St. John Catholic Cemetery, St. John.
