BANGOR and SOLDIER POND – Yvette (Lamarre) Belanger, 79, died Jan. 21, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born March 24, 1928, in New Canada, the daughter of Joseph B. Lamarre and Delia (Labbe) Lamarre. She married Augustin J. Belanger, July 8, 1946. They made their home at Soldier Pond, where they raised six children. Yvette was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, now known as St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and a member of L’Union St. Jean Baptiste. Yvette was employed by the University of Maine as a nutrition aide with the Cooperative Extension Service, making great use of her love of cooking and her abilities to teach cooking to others. Yvette was predeceased by her beloved son, Leo Paul, March 10, 2006. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Blanche Deprey, Marion Theriault, Joan Pelletier, Jeanette Lamarre, as well as infant sisters, Jeanette and Rose; and her brothers, Heale, Joseph “Joe” Armand and Edmond. Yvette is survived by her husband, Augustin of Bangor; her children, Herman and wife, Bernice, of Crouseville, William “Bill” and wife, Sandra, of Londonderry, N.H., daughter-in-law, Ginette Belanger of Derry, N.H., Rolande and husband, Dr. Paul LaMarche, of Eddington, Melvin and wife, Ann, of Soldier Pond, Miriam and husband, Edwin Bard, of Leeds; grandchildren, Robin Belanger, Renee Mills, Clark Belanger, Kelley McPherson, Kirk Belanger, Tim Tedesco, Ginger Simonds, Krystal Belanger, TSgt. David Belanger, Darel Belanger, Rachelle Ashmore, Tabitha “TJ” LaMontangne, Connie Bard, Kristin Belanger and Sarah Belanger; great-grandchildren, Jessica Belanger, Jenna Belanger, Alyssa Belanger, William McPherson, Sofia McPherson, Zoe Belanger, Lilly Simmonds, Hailey LaMontagne, Ethan Tedesco and Geneva Belanger. She is also survived by sisters, Antoinette Deschaine of Van Buren, Lena Plourde of Southington, Conn., and Dora “Doris” Dube of Eagle Lake. Yvette will always be remembered for the deep love and loyalty to family, the meals lovingly prepared and the luscious desserts. There was always a place at the table for anyone who dropped in at mealtime or any one who traveled to visit the Belanger home. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, and 9 a.m. Saturday until time of departure for Soldier Pond at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Burial in the spring will be May 16, at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Yvette’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
