BRUNSWICK and LIMESTONE – Yvonne Mary (Cormier) Tardy died peacefully July 13, 2007, at a Topsham health care facility after a short illness. She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in St. Paul, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Mark and Sylvia (Babineau) Cormier. Mrs. Tardy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bath. Her passion in life was to love and care for her family, always placing their needs ahead of her own. She was “gram,” “memere” or “ninny” to all of her eight grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children. She made them laugh with her French twists to English words and her warm sense of humor. Her faith was a very important part of her life and it gave her solace during difficult times. She has left a void in our hearts, but so many wonderful memories will always remain to help us cope with our loss. She is survived by her children and spouses, Barbara Obar of Brunswick, Clarence “Todd” Tardy and Deanna Bennett of Oakland, Steve Tardy and Mary Darlington of Fredericksburg, Va., Sandra and Michael O’Keefe of Disputanta, Va.; a son-in-law, Larry Jarvis of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Alma Darkis of Perth Andover, New Brunswick, Canada; a brother, Fred Cormier of Blue Bell, New Brunswick, Canada; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tardy was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leslie Tardy; sisters, Media Lacombe and Alice Deleavy; brothers, Arthur and William Cormier; her beloved daughter, Laura Jarvis; and a son-in-law, Fred Obar. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, with Father David Raymond officiating. Interment will be at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. The family invites everyone to the basement of the church after the services for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
