MADAWASKA – Zelia (Ouellette) Rouleau, 99 years and 8 months, died July 14, 2008, at a Frenchville health care facility. She was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Joseph and Anne (Martin) Ouellette. Zelia was a member of Ladies of St. Anne, RSVP, Senior Citizens Ladies Bowling League and she also worked for the Senior Citizens Club. She was known as a talented seamstress and knitter. Zelia is survived by her two sons, Roger and his wife, Camille, and Lionel and his wife, Rachel; one daughter, Gloria Rouleau, all of Madawaska; a special son-in-law, Joel Marquis and his wife, Claudette; a sister, Anne and the late Ludger Ouellette; a sister-in-law, Winifred (Claude) Ouellette; seven grandchildren, David, Louise, Lise, Paul, Daniel, Claire and Theresa; eight great-grandchildren, Joel, Jenee, Nichole, Ross, Carol Ann, Ashley, Justine and Kerissa; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Zelia was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Rouleau in 1977; her daughter, Louella Marquis in 2001; her grandson and godchild, Richard Rouleau in 1999; three brothers, Eloi, Claude and Louis; three sisters, Leona and Prime Caron, Bertha and Anthem Dumond and Juanita and Donat Dumond. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and family may visit 9 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church. Burial will be held after at St. Thomas Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daigle Funeral Home.
