DIXMONT and FRANKFORT Walter Irvan Marden, 72, husband of Roseanne Marden, passed away peacefully Sept. 28, 2008, surrounded by his wife and girls, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born July 31, 1936, in Dixmont, the son of Ellerson Sr. and Georgia (Porter) Marden. Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting anything in the out of doors and going to bingo. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Roseanne of Frankfort; four daughters, Julie Merrill of Pittson, Diana Brown and husband, Byron, of Frankfort, Valorie Batchelder and husband, Richard, of Carmel, and Jennifer Marden and Wayne Plourde of Dixmont; one sister, Sylvia Page of Sabattus; two brothers, Stanley Marden of Bangor; and Oscar Marden and his wife, Carol, of Hampden; grandchildren, Tyler and Branden Merrill, Mark and Evan Strout, Bradley and Elizabeth Brown, Jesse Plourde, Allen, Christopher, Emily and Nick Batchelder; a very special uncle, Malain Marden of Connecticut; two very special friends, Barbara and Gene Grover of Dixmont; several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents; a granddaughter, Ariel Nicole Merrill; a brother, Ellerson Jr.; a sister, Unona Parsons; and a very special friend, Lee Pucillo. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Arnold Schnell officiating. Interment will be at Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont. After the burial, everyone is invited for a continued time of remembrance and refreshments at Diana and Byron Brown’s home, Feero Lane, Frankfort.
