VALA M. JOHNSTON – WASHBURN – Vala M. Johnston, 53, died unexpectedly Sept. 28, 2008, at her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1955, in Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen G. Knoll and Kenneth W. Fox; a son, Steven Frances; a grandson, Ryder N. Noble; a brother and a nephew. She is survived by her husband, who she truly loved, Stephen E. Johnston of Washburn; a son, Jason St. John of Caribou; a daughter, Sabrina Trenchard and her husband, Chris, of Limestone; her beloved grandchildren, Lakeisha M. St. John, Biance E. and LaToya M. Trenchard of Limestone and MaKenzie M. St. John of Presque Isle; sisters, Shiela Fox and her significant other, Mark Lavoie, Paula Mulherin and her husband, Randy, all of Limestone, Tammy Knoll of Caribou, Brenda Knoll of Caribou, Susie Corriveau and her husband, Bennie, of Caribou and Linda Thibodeau of Caribou; brothers, Brian Knoll and his wife, Pam, of Caribou and Randy Knoll and his wife, Karen, of Delano, Minn.; several very special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. She loved her K-9 dog, Jade; and her cats, Little Man and Miss Daisy and kittens. Vala loved having company and always hated to see them leave. She truly had a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed by all. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lidstone Memorial United Methodist Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Dorothy Matson and Sue Brown officiating. Gifts in her memory may be sent in support of the family to 16 Canan Ave., Washburn, ME 04786.
