JAMES J. GRANDMAISON SR. – FORT KENT and SIENA, Italy James J. Grandmaison Sr., 56, died unexpectedly Sept. 25, 2008, in Siena, Italy. James was born April 4, 1952, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the son of Joseph Alphonse and Gertrude (Picard) Grandmaison. James was employed by SAD 27 for 16 years. Prior to that, he was the financial aid director at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He was a graduate of the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and received his Masters of Business Administration from Husson College. He was the music director for St. John Vianney Parish for 25 years. He was the current chairman of MELMAC Education Foundation, past president of MASFAA, and past board chair for SAD 27. He also bowled for Albert’s Jewelry for 20 years, was a ham radio operator and volunteered in communications for Can-Am Crown. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed canoeing, cross-country skiing and was an avid cyclist. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Margaret (Raymond) Grandmaison; and his three children, Jennifer and her husband, Robby McBreairty, of Fort Kent, James Jr. and his companion, Heather Jordan, both of Portland, and Laura and her companion, Jeff Burns, both of Manhattan, N.Y. He is also survived by his mother, Gertrude Grandmaison of Frenchville; and two brothers, Ronald Grandmaison and his wife, Cookie, of Eagle Lake, and Richard Grandmaison of Madawaska. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, and 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Monday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at St. Luce Catholic Church, Frenchville. Committal services will be after at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent.
