BRIDGEWATER and WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. – Gladys Pearl (Bradstreet) Stitham, 93, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Bloomfield, Conn. Born March 31, 1915, in Bridgewater, to the late Frank and Margaret (Howard) Bradstreet, she moved to Bolton, Conn., and later Windsor Locks, Conn., where she had lived for the last 37 years. Gladys was an avid reader, and loved gardening, but her passion was going camping, which she did until the age of 87. She and her husband, Samuel, spent many winters in Okeechobee, Fla. Gladys is survived by two daughters, Susan Merblum and her husband, Frank, of Bloomfield, Conn., and Sandra Klemyk and her husband, Joseph, of Vernon, Conn.; a son, Donald Brewer and his wife, Gail, of Laconia, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Brewer of LaGrange; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Samuel H. Stitham in 1994. In addition to her beloved husband, Gladys was predeceased by a son, Burt Brewer; her three brothers, Kenneth Tidd, Gus Bradstreet and Frank Bradstreet; and her sister, Velma M. Bradstreet. The family thanks McLean Hospice nurses and staff for all the tender comfort they provided Gladys and her family. Gladys’ family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of life 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, Conn.
