ST. ALBANS – Helen M. Finson, 95, died Oct. 7, 2008, at a Pittsfield hospital after a long illness. She was born June 7, 1913, in St. Albans, the daughter of Harold and Etta (Bennet) Baird. She was educated in Hartland schools. Helen married Harry Finson, who predeceased her in 1967. For many years she was the hot lunch supervisor and cook at St. Albans Elementary School. She retired from Edwards Co., Pittsfield, after many years of employment. Helen was a charter member of Chatter Box Club, St. Albans. She loved knitting and crocheting items for her family and friends. Helen loved to fish and was always ready to head for her favorite fishing spot her camp. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ronnie F. and Alane Finson of St. Albans; one brother, Kenneth Baird of Utah; four grandchildren, Thomas, Hannah, Sarah and Carrie; several special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased along with her husband, by a son, Harry Jr.; a daughter, Mary Kathleen; two sisters, Elsie and Nellie; and three brothers, Howard, Herbert and Webster. Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with Rev. George Finnemore officiating. Burial will be after in the family lot at Village Cemetery, St. Albans.
